Description
THIS AUCTION INCLUDES A BOOK TITLED "THE YEARS OF DUNCAN 1865-1955" BY GAIL KRAUSE, WHO ALSO SIGNED THE BOOK. ALSO INCLUDES A "CATALOG 89 REPRINT", CATALOG REPRINTS FROM 1939-1951 SIGNED BY THE PUBLISHER, AND A PRICE GUIDE THAT APPEARS TO HAVE REPRINTED PAGES FROM MANY CATALOGS. ALL OF THESE BOOKS HAVE BEEN HEAVILY HANDLED AND RANGE IN CONDITION FROM "ACCEPTABLE" TO "GOOD", BUT NO BETTER.THESE ARE FULLY FUNCTIONAL BUT THEY ARE NO PRIZES IN THE BEAUTY DEPARTMENT. EACH BOOK HAS SOME WRITING ON IT
1- THE YEARS OF DUNCAN 1865-1955 BY GAIL KRAUSE. Privately Printed. Signed by author to owner (Photo 2 top). 1980. Book has handling creases from use. This book goes style by style with an occasional notation by the owner that is typically a correction and may actually be useful in terms of how pieces are signed, etc. Underlining on a few pages. Notations are in ink. 184 pages (Photo 3,4,5). The word DUNCAN is written in ink across the top page edges.
2- HAND-MADE DUNCAN. THE LOVLIEST GLASSWARE IN AMERICA. CATALOG NO. 89 REPRINT. The covers have soiling and writing and a page of advertising taped to inside of front cover (Photo 6) but the 64 page catalog reprint does not. Handling creases from use. Rear cover has a water stain (Photo 8) and, while it is likely that at least a few of the rear pages got dampened there is no staining noted anywhere but on the rear cover. There is overall age related paper toning. (Photo 6,7,8) (Photo 1- top center). The word DUNCAN is written across top page edges in ink.
3- GENUINE DUNCAN CATALOG REPRINTS 1939-1951 -The Loveliest Glassware in America (This time spelled correctly). Published and Edited by Frances Bacon, who also signed the title page (Photo 2 - bottom). I don't know how complete the catalogs are. The covers are soiled and worn and have repairs to the spine. The book has handling creases throughout but this appears to be a very rare little item. (Photo 12). (photo 1- top right). This book is a bit beaten up. THIS BOOK IS IN THE WORST CONDITION WITH CLEAR REPAIRS TO WHERE PAGES GOT LOOSE. This poor original binding job is likely why this book is also impossible to find.
4- PRICE GUIDE TO DUNCAN & MILLER GLASS (Including a Comprehensive History and Hundreds of Illustrations compiled by W.L. King)- Victoria House Museum- The first sixteen pages are text which has quite a bit of underlining. The remainder of the 64 total pages appears to be reprints from catalogs. There is an upper half moon water stain through the entire book and staining and wear to the covers. (Photo 9,10,11) (Photo 1- Green book on bottom.) This is another very uncommon item.
SO, THESE BOOKS WILL PERFORM THEIR INTENDED FUNCTION BUT NONE ARE IN BETTER THAN "GOOD" CONDITION OVERALL. THESE REMAIN PRETTY RARE BOOKS, EVEN IN FAIR CONDITION, AS ORIGINAL CATALOG IMAGES ARE SO MUCH MORE HELPFUL.
I utilize a third party EBAY supplied shipper for international sales. This is part of the Global Shipping Program. Please note the actual shipping cost before purchasing. That is not my shipping fee and I neither receive it nor know what the amount is. I have no control over import fees that may be charged.
Please do not commit to "buy it now" until you have seen the shipping amount that you will be charged. Thank you.
For International Buyers: Media Mail shipments only. Please note that, although you are likely paying very high shipping costs to have this item sent to you, I am not charging those costs. In the case of books, I utilize "media mail" to get the box to the third party shipper. "Media mail" is a very SLOW speed mailing process reserved for books and records that are potentially very heavy. If you can not wait for my shipment to reach the third party shipper at a very slow pace, please contact me before purchasing and I can add a faster (and more expensive) alternative to the listing to get the item to the third party shipper.
