Description
Pair of Vintage Duncan & Miller Clear Sandwich Glass 4" Candlesticks Scroll Pat.. What a great estate sale find! The condition of this pair of rare Duncan Miller Sandwich Glass Candlesticks seems to be "never used"!The Scroll pattern is also known as Pattern 41 made by Duncan & Miller Glass Co. and features a clear lacy scroll design, a scalloped edge at the base and on the sconce and a diamond point stem. The design in the middle of the stem is much like the welcoming pineapple and the scrolls around the bottom look to me like shafts of wheat. While they are made of glass, they have a definite elegance to grade the table! The candle holders hold a standard taper candle. They are in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or scratches.
Approx. dimensions: 4 1/4" tall, 4 3/8" diameter base.
Vintage item: ca. 1924-1955 (reference: Warman's Depression Glass Handbook). The first Sandwich pattern was produced by the Boston & Sandwich Glass Company in the 1800s. Several companies produced their version of Sandwich patterns starting in the 1920s through the 1980s. The Duncan & Miller sandwich version was considered the best made and highest quality sandwich glass of its era.
Having acquired this pair at an estate sale I do not know their exact age.
