  • Condition: The wire is new, appears to be a brand new spool. It was left in my late father's electronics supply, stored in a smoke-free home.

    Description

    For sale is a vintage  spool of ALPHA WIRE #1552 22 STR Plastic Wire.   It was left behind in the electronics supplies inventory of my late father.   He was an active HAM radio operator for 70 years, and was a radio and other electronics serviceman for much of his life.  He always kept a good inventory of spare parts and components on hand for quick repairs or handy for his own projects.   Looks like he purchased this but never got to his project.
    My husband looked at the wire, and says that it appears to be 7 strands of what appears to be #31 tinned copper wire.  The insulation is probably polyvinyl chloride insulation, based on a vintage ALPHA catalog.  He measures the outside diameter of the wire at about 0.058" nominal outside diameter.  The color appears to be pink(?).   It's not exactly red.  We are guessing this is pre-1961, which is the catalog we used.
