Large Vtg. Spool of Kanthal A-1 Resistance Wire, 16AWG, 2.4# (approx. 382')

For sale is a vintage spool of KANTHAL, Stamford, Connecticut,  A-1 resistance wire, left behind in the electronics supplies of my late father, who was an active HAM radio operator for 73 years, and was a radio and other electronics serviceman for most of his life.   His supplies were stored in a dry, smoke-free home, but this spool shows a rusty spot on the bottom of the spool (see photo).
The wire is on a wood and metal spool, manufactured by the Hubbard Spool Company of Garett, Indiana.   The spool is 6" in diameter, and is 4" tall.
Of course, it is a challenge to be absolutely accurate about how much wire remains on the spool.   The label on the top indicates the original gross weight was 6.48 pounds, with a tare weight of 1.20 pounds, leaving a net weight of the wire 5.28 pounds.   Currently, the spool weighs 3.6 pounds.  Subtracting the 1.20 tare weight, we have about 2.40 pounds of wire left.  At 159 feet per pound, I believe we have approximately 380 feet left.
I believe the date on the label is 11-15-62.   The wire is rated at .335 ohms per foot at 68 degrees F.
I hope that this is wire that you can use, and a nice vintage spool to add to your collection!!
