Duncan & Miller #41 Early American Sandwich Footed 13" Cake Stand or Salver
The Duncan & Miller Company made the Sandwich pattern from 1924 to 1955. Some production was continued by Tiffin, Indiana for Tiara & Lancaster, mainly in colors that were not made by Duncan. This is a nice large cake stand that will hold a very large cake since it has a flat edge rather than a rolled edge. It is slightly concave. Duncan's pattern is unique from Indiana's early Sandwich pattern but it is hard to know the difference between the items made from the Duncan molds that were used by Tiffin and later sold to Indiana except for the new colors that were never used by Duncan for this pattern. Duncan's items were mainly made in crystal and I believe this item was made by Duncan based on the quality of the glass. If anyone knows of a way to distinguish between the cake stand made by Duncan in crystal and if any crystal items have been produced from the Duncan 13" cake stand mold, please let me know and I will post the information.
This cake stand is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or other damage on the plate portion. There are a couple of tiny flea bites on the pedestal underneath side. Those may be just nicks from the factory grinding to finish off the bottom. See the photos.
The stand is approximately 13" wide and 5 1/4" tall.
I rarely describe vintage china & glassware as perfect since it will acquire some use marks even from sitting on a shelf for most of its life. Vintage china & glassware may also have small bubbles, mold seams and marks that are inherent in the making of the item. I try to describe any issues that I consider more than average wear and certainly will point out any damage that I find.

I pack everything with great care.  I use recycled material when I can.Your shipping cost is shown in the auction listing before you bid and is based on the shipping rates from my home to yours as computed by the eBay shipping calculator.  All of my items are unique. I weigh each item and then add one or two pounds for the estimated weight of the box and packing material. The shipping calculator is usually very close
to the actual amount of the shipping. I do not charge for the packing materials or handling.
