    Description

Duncan & Miller #154 Laguna Smokey Avocado? Handled 2 Part Relish Dish + Matching Ladle
The Laguna pattern, along with the Raymor and Patio lines, marked Duncan's introduction of  modern glassware in the 1950's. It was quite a departure from Duncan's more traditional lines.
The Leslie Pina book on Duncan features several catalog pages showing the Laguna line.  One page indicates that the pattern was styled and designed by James Rosati and stating "The ware shows Rosati's nice feeling for modern informal design and his fine perception of the niceties of line and form. Notice too, the precise clean definition of detailing--the flawless undistorted clarity of the glass--both characteristic of well practiced hand craft by the old traditional methods."
    The Laguna pattern
won the 1953 Good Design Award from the Museum of Modern Art.
The above mentioned catalog pages show 3 colors-Teakwood Brown, Smokey Avocado and Biscayne Green.  Biscayne Green appears to be a brighter green than the other pictured examples. But I've seen the color Biscayne Green applied to what looks more like Smokey Avocado and vice versa. So...Go by the color shown in the photos and consider that the photos were taken in very good light. The items do take on more earth tones depending on the light and the background.
This dish and the ladle are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. This is the same shape ladle that Duncan used with many other lines but it is very hard to find in this color.
This dish is approximately 8 1/2" x 5 3/4" x 3" with an upward tilt at the each end.
Feel free to email me with questions or if you would like additional pictures. My listed price takes into account the condition of the item and usually is much less than book value.
I pack everything with great care.
I inspect items carefully for any damage and try to describe items clearly and accurately and provide close-up photos. Most of the items I sell are antique, used or vintage glass and as such may have minor flaws (bubbles, bits of sand, seam lines and other marks from manufacturing) that are inherent in such glass. I will gladly refund your bid price if an item differs significantly from my description.  Items must be returned within 30 days of receipt to receive a refund.  Please contact me if you have any problems with my auction item.
