Constantan wire is made from a copper-nickel-manganese alloy. This consists of approx. 59% copper with the addition of 39-41% nickel and 1-2% manganese and is non-magnetic. The resistance wire with the material number 2.0842 has a low temperature coefficient of electrical resistance and is one of the resistance alloys (along with Manganin).
Evek GmbH is your reliable and competent supplier for CuNi44. In our online shop you will find wires made of Constantan ready for delivery and dispatch.
2.0842 is easy to process, weld and braze. It is also very resistant to corrosion and oxidation. Constantan wire is not suitable for electrical precision resistors. Manganin can be recommended for these. Constantan wire has a high ductility.
Typical areas of application for CuNi44 are:
Manufacture of thermocouples and heating resistors (with an operating temperature of up to 400-500 ° C);
Manufacture of rheostats and potentiometers;
Production of measuring resistors.
Constantan wire is characterized by the following features:
high specific resistance;
low temperature coefficient of resistivity;
high Seebeck coefficient;
good ductility;
good expansion coefficient;
high resistance to corrosion and oxidation.
