Here is a description from the reproduced book: "The Workingwoman's Guide, By A Lady, A Guide To 19th Century Decorative Arts, Fashion and Practical Crafts, 1838". "Pockets are either worn tied around the waist, fastened into the petticoat, or buttoned upon the stays. When fashioned into the petticoat, they are made of the same material, otherwise of dimity, calico, jean, twilled muslin, and sometimes of nankeen or brown jean".
Ladies pockets are not seen very often at reenactments but was a common item for ladies to wear. Other colors & fabric (as shown in last photo) style are available, will make to order as well. This is the one I used as a pattern to create the other pockets listed. Machine sewn but not by me, a bit bigger than my wife thought to be usable, never used.
