Alumel wire is made from a magnetic nickel-based alloy consisting of approx. 93-96% nickel, 1.8-2.5% aluminum, 1.8-2.2% manganese and 0.8-1.2% silicon. This alloy is ductile and remains robust for a long time. It is used as the negative leg of the thermocouple.
Thanks to the high nickel content, Alumel wire shows the properties of this metal in particular. These include high heat resistance and excellent corrosion resistance, especially in aggressive environments. Wire is easy to weld and can be brazed.
2.4122 NiMn3Al is used:
as thermocouples for temperature measurement (up to 1300 ° C);
in the production of compensating lines;
in the manufacture of pyrometers.
Alumel wire has the following properties:
high heat resistance;
excellent resistance to corrosion;
good weldability with Allen common processes;
is easy to braze;
good ductility.
