Deck screws have a deep wide coarse thread that is set at the proper angle to ensure that these fasteners bite into the decking forming a secure long lasting hold with no crumbling or crushing while reducing splitting and cracking. The shank of the wood screw allows the screw to spin freely inside of the outermost piece of wood and draw the inner piece tight against it by having the threaded end grip the wood and pull.
Bugle head is countersunk with a flat top and a concave under the head bearing surface. This head style is specifically designed to distribute bearing stress over a wider surface area than standard flat heads.
Star Drive also referred to as Torx drive has a star shaped recess in the fastener with six rounded points which were designed to permit increased torque transfer from the driver to the bit compared to other drive systems.
Type-17 (auger type) thread cutting tip aids in the installation into all wood types and composite decking by cutting its way into the lumber with a quick start without walking even without a pilot hole, therefore, increasing installation speed.
Made of stainless steel grade 305 which offers a high level of chemical and corrosion resistance and strength that will outperform and outlast all zinc plated fasteners for years without the need to perform costly and time consuming maintenance. The vast majority of stainless steel fasteners are produced with metals from the austenitic family. Their high levels of chromium and nickel provide tough corrosion resistance and the ability to withstand considerable physical strain without fracturing, albeit at a higher cost than the martensitic varieties.
