P.S. The Rice Grain porcelain work was pioneered at the Hongzhou kilns around Luohu, Fengcheng, Jiangxi province, durong the Sui and Tang dynasties. In the Yongle reign of the Ming, extremely fine porcelains with the 'ling long' decorations was made in the Imperial kilns. After the Qianlong reign of the Qing dynasty both the Imperial and the folk kilns manufactured such wares.
Chinese rice grain porcelain (also known as grain de riz ware) bowl is made of thin porcelain and has finely carved rice-like holes which are covered with a transparent glaze. I believe that the process of making these holes a grain of rice is imbedded in the clay walls before firing. The rice grain burns away leaving the window.
